DEB

"I didn’t believe it was possible for a circular, responsible cashmere brand to exist - one that genuinely cared for the environment and the goats, that paid the herders and the factory workers fairly (and by fairly I mean well,) and that could be fully circular. Then, I met the right people at the right time and we’ve created our own."

- Deb, Founder of Baker Miller Pink

NO FUNNY STUFF

Our cashmere is not blended – not even with wool. Because you can’t recycle blends into new cashmere yarn.

Our garments are stitched together with cashmere. Because you can’t recycle Polyester seams.

Our cashmere will have a second life. Because we don’t want perfectly good fibre going to landfill.

HIGH ALTITUDE. HARSH WINTERS. HAPPY GOATS.

FROM SOURCE TO SWEATER.

Baker Miller Pink’s cashmere comes from goats raised on the high-altitude rangelands of Inner Mongolia. The tough winters and wide grasslands help the goats produce fibres that are naturally longer, finer, and warmer than other cashmere fibres. And come spring, when it warms up, the herders gently comb them out for Grade A cashmere.

HIGH QUALITY

GRADE-A CASHMERE

The finest possible cashmere fibre is 34-36mm long and 14–15.5 microns thick. (For reference, human hair ranges from 50-180 microns.) Longer, finer fibre is softer and can last longer if it's expertly spun and compactly knitted. It's the way cashmere used to be - designed to last a lifetime.

NATURAL

PERFORMANCE

Natural fibres have the amazing capacity to draw moisture from the skin to allow evaporation and breathability. Synthetics trap both heat and sweat. So not only soft, cashmere also functions as natural air con. Athletes, who sweat for a living, will totally back us up.

washing

instructions

Don't. Not if you don't really need to. (Wish we could print that in the label.) Since washing machines got super hi-tech, we've all gone a bit lunatic for laundry. So the good news: cashmere will lose any whiff of wearing by being hung up to air. Yes loop it over a hanger and give it a breather for a day. For every four times you'd have popped it in the wash, do it once. Which is good news, because honestly, even we think handwashing is a bit of a faff.

The Butterfly

Moth effect

Uh oh. Chaos alert. We sent you your Baker Miller Pink sweater in a special (recycled) ziplock back for GOOD REASON. If you hear the slightest flutter of tiny wings - put your sweater back in the bag and pop it in the freezer for a week, which will kill any eggs (sorry moths). You might also invest in some repellant cards. You'd be surprised how much the moths love them.

At Baker Miller Pink, responsibility isn’t an add-on — it’s the foundation. The brand was created out of frustration at the lack of truly sustainable cashmere. Baker Miller Pink set out to do things differently and prove that it is possible.

Baker Miller Pink partners with two of the region’s most established cashmere producers, to ensure traceability from herding through spinning, knitting, and finishing. Their vertically integrated supply chain — from grasslands to finished garment — removes the risks of associated with outsourcing.

OUR PARTNERSHIPs in inner mongolia

FROM LAND MANAGEMENT TO FINISH, EVERY STAGE MATTERS.

Our supplier is a founding member of the Sustainable Fibre Alliance (SFA) and the Good Cashmere Standard (GCS). Their approach includes:

  • Animal welfare standards based on the Five Domains model
  • Land management through rotational grazing
  • Training, veterinary care, and fair, traceable payments for herder communities
  • Fibre testing and grading for consistent quality

This partnership reflects a shared belief: that the long-term stability of cashmere relies on protecting the grasslands, supporting herders, and ensuring animal welfare.

CLEAN AND CERTIFIED FACTORIES

The knitwear factories producing Baker Miller Pink are located in Ordos City, close to the source of the fibre. These facilities are either fully certified or in the late stages of certification — a process that can take up to two years.

Certification involves third party oversight of the entire supply chain also including waste outputs (water, gas, and solid waste), clean energy use, and pollution controls. All dyes must be sourced from a specialised Swiss manufacturer to meet strict compliance standards.

The factories are well known for their socially and environmentally responsible practices, and the knitting techniques used are specifically chosen to extend the life of each garment. This means garments are not only responsibly-made but also built to last, aligning with the brand’s sustainable commitments.

DESIGNED TO LAST

AND have a second life

Circularity at Baker Miller Pink is more than an idea — it was the starting premise and a founding principle. Every piece is designed to last, and when it’s holier that the Pope, can be returned for recyling.

Returned jumpers are recycled with Bee&Sons, a partner brand specialising in recycled cashmere. Very few old jumpers make it to the recyclers and the pieces that do often contain polyester and elastane in the cuffs and seams. These have to be removed before recycling can begin. One third of every cashmere sweater cannot be recycled because of the hidden polyester.

Baker Miller Pink only makes only 100% cashmere garment can be recycled. No polyester, no funny bits.

We look forward to seeing a UK-based recycling facility in the next five years - and until then we will work with European partners to create new yarn from our waste.
